Physical description

In an account of a party Caird held at her home, the London Correspondent of The Evening Telegraph (Mar 31, 1890) describes the "tall and graceful figure" and "sensitive, mobile face" of the hostess. The Leeds Times (March 10, 1894) describes her, somewhat contradictorily, as a "small, nice-looking woman, always well-dressed, still in early middle-life." The Daily Evening Bulletin (March 30, 1889) claims an unstated English paper has described Caird as "young and beautiful, tall, with a fine carriage and "Oriental eyes shaded by heavy lashes"". She wears her brown hair low on her forehead.

Did you know?

Caird had one child, a son named (rather unusually) Alison James, known as Alister.
