Our unique Dance Education programme is particularly tailored to developing students as dance practitioners/artists. Modules such as Professional Practice prepare students for life after University by teaching students how to bid for funding and present themselves as dance artists. Dance Pedagogy helps students learn how to engage with others to develop creative work. The programme aims to produce students who are confident independent practitioners with the ability to take their places as creative dance artists.
We have links with local, regional and internationally recognised dance schools and companies such as The Royal Ballet School, Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, Loop Dance Company and Cascade Dance Company.
Students have access to a range of creative dance opportunities within local school-based and community-based settings.
The Dance degree is designed to prepare students for entry into the dance profession as dance artists. It develops skills, knowledge and understanding of a range of dance techniques and styles, creative responses and ways of making dance and performance within a broad artistic, multicultural and international context.
The programme focuses on Technique and Style, Choreography and Dance in Society. The new combined honours Dance pathway provides opportunities for students to specialize in dance technique, choreography and performance.
The programme engages students with professional choreographers including Matthias Sperling, Neil Callaghan and Theo Clickard.
