Profile Summary

Steven Wassell studied at Huddersfield School of music (3years) and Royal College of Music (3 years) gaining LTCL and ARCM performance diplomas as well as winning the Brass Prize at the RCM. He went on to pursue a career as a freelance musician in London, mainly focussing on session work in the studios, partaking in such films as Winds of War and Wallace and Gromitt and several TV and radio commercials as well as a peripatetic teacher in Surrey and RCM Junior Department, Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Performance and Communication Skills course). Steven then went on to become Head of Brass, Wind and Percussion at St Edmund’s School in Canterbury, where he has taught many of the Cathedral choristers. As well as examining and adjudicating music festivals, he is a director, tubaist and conductor of Kent Sinfonia and co-director of Jubilate Brass, a resident ensemble in the Cathedral.
