Profile Summary

John Gallen has spent over 25 years in the music industry and has enjoyed success in many areas. He has worked with major recording artists in leading studios around the world, balanced live concerts and T.V. broadcasts in Europe and Japan, managed a major recording artist and lectured in sound recording techniques.In 1976 he joined Roundhouse Recording Studios as an assistant engineer, by 1979 was senior engineer and went on to a free-lance career recording, mixing and producing for artists including Queen, Simply Red, George Benson, Go West, Maxi Priest, Aswad, Rick Astley, Boy George, Osibisa, Billy Ocean, Motorhead, Haircut 100, Incognito and The Damned to name a few.Throughout the eighties he continued his career working in London, New York, Munich, Tokyo, Paris and The West Indies.

In 1987 he discovered and managed young singer songwriter Beverley Craven. Within a year she had procured recording and publishing contracts with Sony and EMI Music. She went on to sell over 2 million copies of her debut album.In 1995-96 John co-composed and produced two albums for KPM Music and conducted training courses in sound engineering for Solid State Logic in Egypt, Indonesia and Greece..In 1998 he established Oxford Audio Training to provide expertise and advice to recording studios around the world and was invited to lecture in sound recording at Gateway school of recording technology.

Continuing his career in recording, in 1999 John recorded and broadcast the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and State Opera in Tiananmen Square, Beijing.In April 2001 John joined Euphonix as regional Sales Manager responsible for the music sector. In 2002 he was promoted to U.K. sales manager responsible for the music, broadcast and film sectors.In July 2002 John left Euphonix to return to sound engineering and production.

2002-2003 credits include recording and mixing for Alex Parks and Alistair Griffin from Fame Academy, a Meja Beckman album for Sony Music, recording and mix of a live Go West and Tony Hadley album and various projects for producer/composer Danny Schogger.During 2004 he recorded new albums for artists including Claire Martin, Gordon Haskill, Kuljit Bamra and Gota Yashiki. Working with the exceptional and talented Steve Cooper (Radiotone Records ) John mixed tracks for The absentee and The Measures. In 2005 John co produced the debut album for David Migden and recorded various sessions with Ian Shaw, Dave O’Higgins, Gordon Haskell and Kyle Eastwood. John Continues to collaborate with producer SteveCooper working with 12 Stone Toddler and Kind Canyon Records new signing Captain Phoenix.

John teaches music technology at Broadstairs Campus, as well as The Academy of Contemporary Music, and is a member of the Music Producers Guild (MPG).
