Profile summary

Nina is the Founder and Artistic Director of Loop Dance Company, 0.5 Lecturer at Canterbury Christchurch University leading modules in Limón technique, Dance in Society and Professional Practice and a Visiting Lecturer at University of Roehampton. A two-year sabbatical in New York City studying at the Limón Dance Foundation informed her practice and in 2015, she graduated with a MA in Creative Practice from Trinity Laban.

Nina is an active performer working collaboratively on a variety of projects ranging from a critically acclaimed children’s immersive theatre production now in its 7th year to challenging her physicality with up and coming choreographers. Creative passions include collaborating with artists from other art forms and exploring non-traditional performance sites. Nina enjoys creating new dance pieces as a solo artist, for Loop Dance Company and other groups and pursues an interest in making work that is a culmination of many genres to create whole pieces of performance art. After working with British seminal artist Rosemary Butcher she has honed her choreographic research. Current interests focus on intimate installations that involve the audience as part of the art whilst encouraging emotive responses to sensory environments.

Research and knowledge exchange

Nina is an advocate for the development of emerging dance artists and has mentored many fledgling artists. This form of career development formed the theme of her MA dissertation, exploring methods of best practice in an ever-shifting ecology. This research is currently developing to examine peer mentoring as a method for skill acquisition and technical and artistic development within the technique class.
