BBC Broadcast Journalist – Sport

"I graduated in 2009 from Canterbury Christ Church University with a First Class Honours degree in Media and Cultural Studies with Film, Radio and Television. I went on to work in several social media/online communications based roles in the third sector and as a visiting lecturer at CCCU.

In 2015, I decided to leave my job (and London) to move up to Manchester and study a Masters in Broadcast Journalism. I then went on to work at BBC Sport in Media City, Salford, in various freelance roles, before being offered a job as Broadcast Journalist. The role involved writing live text commentary for national and international sporting events, match reports and producing pieces of original journalism/features.

I am now currently working at BBC Get Inspired, with the focus on driving sport participation through content. I also freelance as a cricket commentator for BBC radio.

My degree and the experience that I gained whilst at CCCU was 100% beneficial to me landing my dream job. The quality of feedback from course tutors was very good, and the course presented many opportunities; public speaking and learning to think in an analytical way were just some of the ways in which I was prepared for my career."
