World Bank Project in Collaboration with the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian Universities.
This project, which was completed in 2012, was designed to update and develop the professional expertise, knowledge and research capacity of Palestinian teacher educators in the delivery of pre-service language arts programmes and to transform the curriculum in Palestinian universities’ pre-service language arts education programmes in the West Bank and Gaza.
Staff in the Centre worked with senior staff in the Palestinian universities both in Palestine and in Canterbury to redesign the curriculum, pedagogical and assessment strategies to meet the professional needs of teachers and learners of English in Palestine in the twenty first century.
The project was funded under the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF), in partnership with three Palestinian universities. The focus was to upgrade the teaching of English on teacher education programmes.
