Curriculum Development - Bangladesh

English Language Curriculum Development Project in collaboration with the British Council Bangladesh.

The Centre for Language and Linguistics has been working in collaboration with the British Council Bangladesh on an English Language curriculum development project in that country.

Our involvement in the project, entitled ‘Transforming English Language Skills in the HE Sector in Bangladesh’ (TELSHEB), began in January 2013, with the current phase ending in October 2014.

It initially involved the development and roll-out of four new modules for universities in Bangladesh, three designed to upgrade the academic English language and ‘English for Employability’ skills of students, and one designed to enhance the professional skills and knowledge of the English lecturers.

The four modules were then piloted in ten universities around Bangladesh, and revised in the light of feedback received during the piloting phase, with wider implementation of the revised modules in the HE sector in Bangladesh taking place from January 2015.
