Alistair Bamford (bass-baritone), Helen Crayford (piano), Dale Savage (reader). Anticipating 250 years since Beethoven’s birth in 1770, and marking the birth of the song cycle, a performance of An die ferne geliebte, alongside other Romantic works for voice and piano culminating in Schoenberg’s glorious Op.1, and concluding with Beethoven’s settings of Scottish folk songs. The performance will include specially written poems that reimagine in contemporary terms the journeys of the poets, composers and performers.
