As If They Existed (2015, Felicity Allen & Tom Dale) is a short film from a series of Felicity Allen’s Dialogic Portrait sittings of women who have made significant contributions to the visual arts. The Dialogic Portraits process involves drawing from life, talking and recording discussions, and reflexive writing.
Following a screening of the film, you are invited to develop your own ideas for writing or drawing from observation (or both), using Jemima Brown’s exhibition as a starting point. Newspapers and magazines will also be available to cut up for either writing or visual collages and you are invited to use voice recording if this helps. The workshop aims to help you develop your own ideas and ways of working.
