Wednesday 15 November 2017|9.30am-12.30pm Tutor: Jon Palmer | Canterbury campus | £30 The aim of this session is to give you an idea of basic Deaf Awareness and a few basic BSL signs. It is also to give you the opportunity to decide if you would like to learn more! We will look at Deaf Awareness and how to improve communication tactics and overcome communication barriers with Deaf people. We will learn and practice the British Sign Language manual fingerspelling alphabet. We will cover a range of basic British Sign Language vocabulary that you can use when meeting and greeting a Deaf person. Finally, we will summarise our session and give attendees further information on our full BSL Level 1 courses. If you would like to move on to learn BSL Level 1, then this will be a fully accredited course with Signature, the examining body for BSL qualifications. The course is delivered as three separate units with an exam at the end of each unit. It can either be attended as a full academic year course (2 hours per week) OR we can Fast Track the course into 20 weeks (3 hours per week).
