Saturday 16 September 2017|10am-4pm Tutor: Martin Crowther | Canterbury campus | £42 Neil MacGregor, Director of the British Museum, famously explored The History of the World in 100 Objects. Join local historian and curator Martin Crowther as we undertake a similar challenge for Canterbury, but on a slightly smaller scale, investigating and uncovering the fascinating stories behind 20 local finds from the Ice Age to the Baedeker Blitz. What can these objects from local, national and international collections tell us about Canterbury, its colourful history and its place in the wider world? How might specialist research and cutting edge science reveal more? This practical hands-on workshop is suitable for all. It includes the opportunity to investigate and handle real and replica artefacts. As a curator with Canterbury Museums in 2010 Martin helped co-ordinate Kent’s contribution to The History of the World in 100 Objects in partnership with the British Museum and Radio Kent.
