Stina Wilson (flutes), Michael Bunce (electronics), Marina Stanimirovic (sound artist).
Flautist Stina Wilson and electronics artist Michael Bunce – collectively known as Music Box – explore the dialogue between sound and silence with sculptor, wearable objects designer and sound artist Marina Stanimirovic. An improvisatory odyssey records the sound of the materials as Marina creates a live artwork both tangible and intangible. This recital also features works by Dai Fujikura and Peter Maxwell Davies, for flute, music box and electronics.
Followed at 2.30pm by a 90-minute public workshop in MDg01,
entitled 'Materials and Fragments'. This experiential workshop offers an opportunity to engage with interdisciplinary improvisation. Participants are invited to bring along instruments to collaborate with Stina, Michael and Marina. The workshop will explore themes and approaches to text forms and improvisation at the centre of their work. You will explore the use of written score and text, and sculptural objects, as materials and fragments to inspire and shape improvisation and composition practice. The workshop will culminate in the performance of a group improvisation piece.
