Send us your photos

Hard copy photography

This can either be donated to the University’s Library permanently, or loaned temporarily so that we can scan the item and hold a digital copy of your original.

PLEASE NOTE: if at all possible, it is better to send the original photo than to send a scan you have taken yourself. The University has specialised scanning equipment that enables it to achieve high quality replication of photographic material.

The following information should be sent with your photo(s):

• the year it was taken (or the exact date if known);
• the occasion at which the photo was taken;
• the location of the photo;
• the people in the photo (if known);
• the address to which you would like the material to be returned if it is being sent on loan.

Photographs loaned to the University will be scanned and returned by recorded delivery within 28 days of receipt.

Digital photography and videos

You can send us smaller digital photos by email. 

If your photo is too large to email, or you have a video to send, please forward this material via WeTransfer, a free, secure online system that is very easy to use. When WeTransfer asks to which email address the material must be sent, please use: alumni@canterbury.ac.uk. WeTransfer enables you to include a message with your transfer. Please use this to include the date your material was recorded, the occasion and venue and the people featured (if known).

Terms and conditions

By submitting photographic and / or videographic material to the University by post, email, WeTransfer, or any other data transfer system, you give Christ Church permission to any or all of the following:

• storing the material within its file network;
• uploading the material to YouTube;
• using the material in full or part on Christ Church online and social media platforms;
• the use of stills from the material online, or within its printed publications.
