Supporting Health and Wellbeing

We are working in partnership with the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS), to provide appropriate support, training and education for welfare practitioners. This mutually beneficial partnership aims to support health and wellbeing for all, offering a complete ‘package of learning’, starting with a Foundation Degree for welfare practitioners already in the role and to those wishing to progress their careers in this area.

‘The role of the University in the changing health and social care sector is to build the knowledge and evidence base within emerging professional communities to underpin effective interventions which promote public health and wellbeing.

‘Our Foundation Degree will be the first of a series of steps to support this and we are delighted to be working with DMWS to assist in providing a firm foundation for this emergent profession within the current Armed Forces personal and beyond into those undertaking similar roles across the country.’

Debra Teasdale, Dean of Health and Social Care
