Informatics Institute of Technology

As part of our commitment to internationalisation, Canterbury Christ Church University is working in partnership with Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Our partnership agreement supports the development, delivery and quality assurance of a range of Christ Church degrees, to be taught at IIT.

The partnership is based on common values and a commitment to providing the best possible access to professional higher education in and for the local context.

With a vision to empower the youth in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) age, the Informatics Institute of Computer Studies (IICS) which is now known as the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), was established in 1990.

Since its foundation, IIT, a licensed private higher education institute, has established itself as a leader in IT and Business education within Sri Lanka. IIT is renowned for delivering quality education and is dedicated to developing innovative educational programmes in partnership with UK academic institutions and awarding bodies.

The partnership between Christ Church and IIT was launched in November 2015, with the first cohort of MBA students. With three intakes each year, and part time study routes, the partnership offers valuable opportunities for Sri Lankan professionals to develop their business knowledge and skills and enhance their careers.

The programme portfolio continues to develop as the partnership grows. In September 2017, a BSc Business Management (top up) degree was launched and other subject areas are planned for the future.

IIT degrees are validated, supported and quality assured by Canterbury Christ Church University and are completed while studying entirely in Sri Lanka. Students who complete their programmes of study have the opportunity to graduate in Canterbury cathedral in the UK.

The College’s campus is located in the centre of Colombo, and has recently expanded through the acquisition of two floors in a new building. Facilities include teaching rooms, lecture theatres, Wi-Fi throughout, and a student lounge and café. The library has a collection of 10,000 academic titles.

Canterbury Christ Church University and Informatics Institute of Technology currently offer the following validated programmes for provision in the 2017/18 Academic Year.
