On placement, you will be required to wear a uniform as part of your Readiness for Practice. Important information regarding your uniform can be found on the uniform policy.
The Placement Management Team will email you with instructions on how to order your uniform in plenty of time before your first placement.

*Operating Department Practice Apprenticeship students that joined before September 2024 will not have been provided with scrubs and are not entitled to these items retroactively.
*Paramedic Science students across cohorts have, and will continue to be provided with jackets, however the style/appearance of said jackets will vary. Please note SECAmb will also supply students with a Hi-Vis jacket, Hi-Vis trousers, and safety boots – helmets are issues when needed. *Diagnostic Radiography Students (and any students undertaking placements involving ionising radiation): Students will be issued with a Thermoluminescent Dosimeter (TLD) badge and will receive separate communication with further information regarding its collection, use, and exchange. The TLD badge is a mandatory component of the Readiness for Practice (RFP) requirements. Failure to collect, wear, or exchange the TLD badge as instructed may result in the withdrawal of RFP certification, and students will not be permitted to attend clinical placement until the requirement has been met
The uniform allocation listed above is issued free of charge for all students when they join their course. The uniform students are provided with in their first year is expected to last for the duration of their degree. If students join CCCU as a new student in their second or third year, they will be issued some uniform free of charge, however the quantity is decided on a case-by-case basis.
1. Uniform
1.1. Delivery Time – If ordering uniform, students should allow up to 6 weeks for delivery time. If a subsequent exchange of uniform is required, students will need to allow a potential further 6 weeks for delivery.
1.2. Returns – If students need to return their uniform because of incorrect sizing, it must be returned within 30 days. Please note that delays in reporting issues may result in students having to replace the uniform at their own expense.
1.3. Faulty Items – If students have any problems with their uniform, they should report these items and return within 30 days of receiving them. Please

1.4. Additional Items - If students wish to order uniform at any point in addition to their course allocated uniform, they will be required to purchase this at their own expense directly with the supplier.
1.5. Uniform Care – Students should always read the care label and washing instructions on the inside of their garments before washing.
2. Alternative Uniform
2.1. Please note that our uniform supplier refers to some styles of garments as male or female. It is important that student uniform is practical, and students are comfortable in what they are wearing on placement. Therefore, when students are fitted with their uniform, they will be able to choose the style/fit they most prefer.
Individual Circumstances
2.2. Maternity– Four sets of maternity uniform are available at any point during a student’s studies. We will supply these free of charge. Please allow up to 6 weeks for items to arrive from date of order.
2.3. Medical – Placement uniform is already agreed and allocated; if a student has a medical requirement for alternative uniform, they should speak to their Personal Academic Tutor, who will liaise with us accordingly.
2.4. Religious - Placement uniform is already agreed and allocated; if a student has a religious requirement for alternative uniform, they should speak to their Personal Academic Tutor, who will liaise with us accordingly.
3. Placement Name Badges
3.1. Preferred Name – On placement, students will be required to wear a name badge,i which is an additional item of uniform. Before starting their studies, they will be asked to provide their preferred first name, which will be printed on their placement badge.
3.2. 4. CCCU Enamel Badges
4.1. Enamel Badges are supplied free of charge to our students on the professional registration courses on successful completion of their degree. These
5. Damaged Uniform
5.1. Damaging uniform whilst on placement – If students damage their uniform while on placement and require new items, they should report this before being advised on next steps.
6. Sustainability
6.1. CCCU is committed to sustainability and as such we have implemented our own uniform recycling process to ensure a sustainable approach is followed.
Please note: footwear is not supplied by the University with the exception of the Paramedic Science course.

Students are advised to abide by the Trust uniform policy with regards to footwear. However, the typical principles are that they are black, close-toed shoes that are low heeled/flat with non-slip soles. They must be made of a wipeable material, ideally leather or ‘leather look’ due to the risk of encountering spillages and bodily fluids. Commonly within Trusts we work with, Crocs or trainer style shoes are not allowed to be worn. |

Students are advised to follow Trust uniform policy, but as our students move around different Trusts the safest option is flat, black, wipeable shoes, that cover the whole foot (to protect their feet from sharps/bodily fluids and can be cleaned for infection control purposes). Occupational Therapy Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship MSc Occupational Therapy |
Students are advised to abide by the Trust uniform policy with regards to footwear. However, the typical principles are flat, black shoes/trainers, no open toes & nonslip. Please note, guidelines will vary depending on placement settings. |
| Operating Department Practice |
Students on placement in theatre areas are provided with footwear. When in university completing clinical skills, we recommend wearing flat, comfortable, closed toe and non-slip footwear (i.e. trainers). |
| Paramedic Science |
Paramedic Science students are provided with footwear by SECAMB (South East Coast Ambulance Service). Please note, SECAmb will also supply you with a safety helmet, Hi-Vis jacket, and Hi-Vis trousers. Physiotherapy MSc Physiotherapy |
Our foremost requirement for our Physiotherapy students is that they wear comfortable shoes that enable them to be on their feet for most of the day and abides with Trust policy. Then, slip proof and safe to wear. Thirdly, if it fits with their uniform, black, blue or white is best. |
Placement badge
On placement you are required to wear a name badge*, which will show your course title and preferred first name. This placement badge is provided to you free of charge.
Thermoluminescent Dosemeters (TLDs)
Diagnostic Radiography students and staff are required to wear a passive radiation detection device, a Thermoluminescent Dosimeter (TLD), that allows CCCU to monitor your radiation exposure.
If you are a Diagnostic Radiography student, you must be in possession of a TLD to participate in simulated learning and placement. If you do not have your TLD badge, you will be turned away from simulation and placement.
Your TLD badge will be exchanged three times each academic year to allow for monitoring.
All Diagnostic Radiography students must pay a refundable deposit of £30 for their TLD upon commencing the course.
The deposit will be returned at the end of your final year of study. However, it will not be returned in the event of damage or loss. If you require a replacement badge, you will need to pay a further £30 deposit.

Fob watches
Fob watches do not form part of your uniform allocation supplied by the university. If your course requires a fob watch you will need to purchase one prior to your placement. Course specific requirements will have been outlined on your Course Essentials page at the start of the year. If you have already begun your studies and would like further information, please liaise with your PAT.
