Judith Armitt retired as Chief Executive of Local Partnerships LLP in April 2016. Prior to this she worked in the Cabinet Office (2012-2013), was Managing Director of Ashford’s Future Company (2008-2011), Thames Gateway Chief Executive (2006-2008), and Chief Executive of Medway Council (1997-2006), prior to which she worked for London Borough of Lewisham and the Greater London Council.
A CIPFA accountant by profession Judith is trustee and director of the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME); and Design: South East. She is a non-executive Director of the Port of London Authority. She has previously held a number of non-executive roles in the education and skills sector, including nine years as a member of the Council of the University of Kent (1998-2009).
Married with two grown up children Judith is a lay Reader in the Church of England and has been an Honorary Lay Canon since 2007. She enjoys running, orienteering and singing.
Judith joined the Governing Body as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s nominee to the Governing Body, and was appointed by Governor colleagues to the position of Chair of the Governing Body and Pro-Chancellor from August 2021.
