Ms Christina Astin

Christina Astin is an experienced education leader, consultant and executive coach with over 35 years' experience spanning schools, universities, charities and professional bodies. She is Founder of Astin Consulting, which advises senior leaders across the education, industry and not-for-profit sectors on strategy, partnerships, leadership, outreach and impact evaluation in both national and international contexts.

Previous appointments include serving as Head of Partnerships and Head of Science and Physics at The King's School, Canterbury. She established the East Kent Schools Together partnership and helped create what is now the School Partnerships Alliance.

Christina holds an MA in Natural Sciences and Management Studies from the University of Cambridge and a PGCE with Distinction. She is a Chartered Physicist, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching. In 2025 she was awarded the prestigious Phillips Award by the Institute of Physics in recognition of her contribution to widening participation.

Her voluntary and professional activities include serving as a Kent Ambassador, co-founding and acting as Academic Advisor to the Young Scientists Journal, contributing to BBC Radio Kent on science and education, and supporting young people as a STEM Ambassador.

She has lived in Kent most of her life, and in Canterbury since 2000. Outside her professional life, Christina is an accomplished musician and performs professionally in the choir for the Canterbury Cathedral, alongside solo singing engagements. She is also an enthusiastic traveller and expedition leader, having explored destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa and Central America, including Armenia, Mongolia, Japan, Tanzania, India and Kyrgyzstan.
