Mrs Angela Newey
Independent Governor
Originally from Scotland, Angela was brought up in London and studied history at Durham University.
Angela qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand and moved into the Legal Support Team.
During a career break when her children were young, Angela joined Sevenoaks Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in 1999 as a volunteer adviser. Angela moved to Tonbridge CAB as a Deputy Manager in charge of training in 2003 and became Manager in 2005. In subsequent years Angela became the Manager of Sevenoaks & Swanley CAB and Gravesham CAB as well.
After three years running the charities in partnership, they merged to become Citizens Advice in North & West Kent. Dartford Citizens Advice joined in 2016 followed more recently by Tunbridge Wells in July 2022.
Angela was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2020.
Married with four grown up children and two grandchildren, Angela has lived in Kent for more than three decades. Angela was formerly the Treasurer and is now a Vice President of Sevenoaks Historical Society.
