Events and non-teaching activities

Given the uncertainty of the Covid-19 situation, we have made a decision to postpone or cancel public events on our campuses for the foreseeable future (March 17).

Our event organisers will be in touch to cancel or refund tickets. We’ll keep you updated as and when the situation changes. We apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience this causes.

Unfortunately, we are suspending our activities in schools and colleges. This also includes visits to our campuses. We’ll review the situation again towards the end of the Easter holidays, and will contact schools and colleges to confirm the position for the summer term. If you have any queries, please contact our Schools and Colleges Engagement team: sce@canterbury.ac.uk

Following on from University advice the Students' Union will be shutting their offices from 18 March with staff to work from home.

They will continue to operate as many of their services as possible online and still want to hear from and support you through all of their usual channels.

Given the challenges of the last few months, we want to ensure that your graduation is a special day in which we can celebrate with your families and guests.

While as a University we are planning to open for September 2020, there is still considerable uncertainty about when life will return to normal and when social distancing requirements will be relaxed.

For this reason and with much regret, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the September 2020 Graduation Ceremonies which were due to take place at Canterbury Cathedral. This is such an important occasion for you, your guests and the University that we considered it important to find an alternative date when we can celebrate your achievements together. We are very sorry for the disappointment this will cause.  But the safety of our students, staff and guests remains paramount.

We have rescheduled the ceremonies to 28 and 29 January 2021 and look forward to coming together then for your special celebration. We will be updating our web pages with specific FAQs over the next few weeks and you will be able to access further information here.

The University is due to hold Award Ceremonies at Augustine House in November 2020, at which we planned to include those students whose Award Ceremony on the 21st March 2020 was unfortunately postponed due to Covid-19. At this stage we are unable to confirm the status of this event and will continue to monitor government advice over the next few weeks. A decision will be  made at the latest by August 2020 and we will confirm this by email, but in the meantime please access further information here.
