Editing the left hand menu
The FrontPage template design uses specially-written scripts to create the left hand menu in a standard, but interactive way. The scripts read the simple menu.asp file from the menu folder and generate a styled version that also highlights which page the user is on - like the one on the left of this page.
In
order to work properly, the menu.asp file must contain a simple,
bulleted list. Each item in the list should be linked to a page in your
section, and no
page should be linked more than once. You can see an example of the menu.asp file
for this section on the left. Click the thumbnail for a larger version.
(NB: if you do want to link to the same page twice in the menu, please contact the Web Development Team and we can describe a workaround).
Double indent!
When
editing the menu.asp file in FrontPage, you should use the
'indent' and 'outdent' buttons in the Formatting toolbar at the top of
the screen. However, you need to click these buttons twice for each
movement to preserve the bullets.
The tutorial below shows this in action (Flash plugin required).
