Introduction
Welcome to the data protection web pages which cover important aspects of the University’s insurance policies.
Canterbury Christ Church University holds and processes information about employees, students, and other data subjects for academic, administrative and commercial purposes, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
The five key points are
• The University must tell people what you are doing with
information about them including to whom you are disclosing it
• You must use appropriate security measures to protect personal
data
• You must not keep personal data for longer than is necessary
• Individuals have the right to see any personal information the
University holds about them, and the University has 40 calendar
days to respond
• For advice on data protection or if you have concerns about
disclosing data, contact the Data Protection Officer
The Data Protection Officer is Robert Melville, and is able to give advice and assistance relating to data protection
