International Students’ Induction
We are delighted that you have chosen to study at Canterbury
Christ Church University and hope your time here will be
successful and memorable.
Student Support and Guidance organises an
induction event for non-UK degree students each
September. The programme is designed to welcome new
European and international students to Canterbury whilst
offering an opportunity for all newcomers to meet current
students and staff and make new friends. In addition, it equips
you with practical details for living and studying in the UK so
that you are able to commence your studies with confidence.
Who can attend?
Undergraduate, postgraduate and Erasmus students (on courses
lasting at least six months) are all welcome to attend.
Should I book?
All international and European students who have accepted an
unconditional offer of a place at Canterbury Christ Church
University will automatically be sent details explaining where
and when to go. There is no charge.
Is the induction compulsory?
Whilst it is not compulsory, all new European and international
students are strongly encouraged to attend this event.
Failure to attend will mean you miss out on vital information.
What does the induction involve?
The programme provides you with information and guidance on the
following:
· Life in the
Canterbury and the UK
· Studying in
the UK
· UK immigration
rules and regulations
· Health and
safety in the UK
· University
welfare services
· Working in the
UK
· Cultural
differences
There are also social events, an opportunity to meet with local
banks and tours of campus.
I have studied in the UK before. Should I still attend?
Yes! The programme includes specific sessions to welcome
you to Canterbury Christ Church University and gives plenty of
useful information to help you settle in. Also, it is an
invaluable opportunity to make friends.
Is there anything else I should do before attending the induction?
It is essential that you read the
pre-arrival guide which contains useful information about
what to do before you get to the UK and what to expect on
arrival.
