Personal Tutoring

Introduction

Welcome to the Personal Tutoring pages at Canterbury Christ Church University. They are designed to present some useful information to staff who have a Personal Tutor role as one of their responsibilities.

The arrangements for implementing the Personal Tutoring guidelines and procedures lie within each department and faculty, but there is some central support for these arrangements through the Director of Student Support and Guidance Office. For example, within the BA/BSc Scheme, the Director’s Office is responsible for arranging for individual students to be allocated to departments, and the teaching departments then allocate their share of students to tutors on their programme(s). This is to ensure that each department receives an appropriate allocation of students, that each tutor receives an appropriate allocation of tutees and that each student is allocated a personal tutor within one of their degree programmes.

These pages are designed to help staff become familiar with the role of the Personal Tutor and be able to access supporting materials to help them in that role. They are a supplement to the workshops on Personal Tutoring that are offered through the Staff Development Office. We hope that you will find them useful.

If you have any questions about the Personal Tutoring guidelines and procedures, or wish to discuss particular Personal Tutoring issues, please contact the Director of Student Support and Guidance who will be glad to address these with you.  Similarly, if you have any feedback on these WWW pages, wish to suggest additional material, or even contribute to them yourself, please email the Director of Student Support and Guidance at studentsupport@canterbury.ac.uk
