Communication Support
Hearing Induction Loop
If you wear hearing aids that have a ‘T’ switch, you will be
able to benefit from the portable loop system that is available
to borrow on a short term basis from the main reception.
The hearing induction loop is also fitted in the Hall (Cg48)
Fire Alarms
If you are unable to hear Fire Alarms, you must inform the
Disability Team, if you are a student or your group leader or
conference organiser if you are visiting the University.
Alternative arrangements will then be made for you.
Hearing spoken instructions
In the event of an emergency, spoken instructions may be
given to occupants of buildings. If you are unable to hear
spoken instructions, you must inform the Disability Team if
you are a student, or your group leader or conference organiser
if you are visiting the University. Alternative arrangements
will then be made for you.

If your preferred method of communication is something other
than the spoken word i.e. BSL or lip reading, please contact the
Disability Team if you are a student. She will advise you how
to obtain funding for this support and help you to contact the
providers.
Visitors who require communication support should contact their
group leader, conference organiser or member of staff receiving
them.
