Service Level Statement

The Department of Student Support and Guidance (SS&G) was renamed in November 2006 (having previously been the Student Services Department) following the recommendations of an Internal Review, and the new name will be brought into common usage from 1 August 2007, for the start of the academic year 2007/8.

The Department embraces 2 sets of distinct, yet inter-connected, service areas

Employability and Careers Service, comprising the Careers Advisory Service, the JobShop, Volunteering, and the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey

Student Support Services, comprising the Student Counselling Service and Mental Well-being, the Student Advisers (Financial Support), the Student International Adviser, the Disability and Equal Opportunities Advisers, the Student Health Service, Student Study Support and the Student ICT Trainer.

In addition, students at the University’s Medway and Broadstairs campuses have the support of Programme Directors for students at other campuses, provides access to the Student Support and Guidance Services.

The mission of the department is consonant with the university's mission and values and is informed by the aims and strategic priorities stated in the University Strategic Plan 2006-2010.
