Staff Development Committee

Minutes

The Staff Development Committee reports to the SMT and is one of five sub-committees of the Academic Board (the others being Student Services, Academic Planning, Academic Standards and Information Services.)

The committee is chaired by the Strategic Director of Resources. Membership includes the key post holders in the staff development, learning and teaching, human resources and equality functions, plus academic and professional service staff representatives from the faculties and other SMT directorates.

The terms of reference of the committee are as follows:

1. To advise the SMT on policies, principles and procedures in relation to the
     effective development of staff throughout the University.

2. To oversee the provision of those staff development activities which, taken
     broadly, support the University in meeting its mission, aims and objectives.

3. To advise the SMT on the allocation of resources for staff development

4. To receive regular reports on staff development from all areas of the University
    and to prepare an Annual Report on Staff Development.

5. To review and disseminate good practice in the management and execution
    of Staff Development.
