Cultural Issues in Assessment
Theme 1: Assessment for Learning
Brief outline:
This session will offer opportunity to discuss a variety of
related issues including definitions of assessment,
ethnocentrism and tolerance of deviation from the norm,
perceptions of plagiarism and culture vs. plagiarism.
Participants will also have opportunity to reflect on what
'cultural competence' might constitute. The presentation
will be based on the experiences of the presenters and current
research and will present some challenges for colleagues in
relation to their assessment practice
