Theme 1: Assessment for Learning
Brief outline:
In this workshop, we will outline the development of an undergraduate module for student midwives which explores how midwives can work with women in partnership towards empowerment. Empowerment has been described as the essence of midwifery, and yet many studies show that midwives are not empowered in practice. How can midwives empower women if they are not empowered themselves? We will discuss some of the creative teaching and assessment strategies used in the module, including forum theatre, and debate the pros and cons of blended assessment. Come and join the debate!
