Staff Development Brochure
Making the most of your development opportunities
We are pleased to be able to offer this comprehensive guide to the staff development opportunities available to staff in the coming year. For the fifth year running we have attempted to bring together details of all staff development provision across the University into one handy reference booklet. It contains information about all kinds of development opportunities including workshops, access to further qualifications, accredited courses, e-learning and informal support networks.

The brochure provides an easy guide to the variety of development options available and is designed to help you make the right choice for yourself or those you lead or manage.
Of course development is not only about courses, programmes or
workshops. Research shows that in fact 70% of the most effective
staff development occurs in the workplace 'on the job'.

This means that developing our skills to help others is just as important as directing staff to a organised event. It may well be that you would like to develop your skills in coaching, mentoring, giving feedback, providing one to one training or managing appraisal. To support this need we have placed greater emphasis on such skills in our programme this year.
