New Staff Development Programmes for 2011/12
Staff Development are committed to ensuring the programmes we offer reflect the needs of our staff and the changing environment of the University. With this in mind we have worked with both internal and external training providers to produce the following programmes:
All Staff
The Inspired Administrator
This five day programme has been specifically developed based on feedback from experienced Administrators within the University who wanted an opportunity to further enhance what they do, network with like minded colleagues and gain recognition for their work. The programme also offers the opportunity to work towards the ILM accreditation in Business Administration.
The Art of Presenting
An opportunity for staff to develop their presentations skills, whether it be learning new skills, ideas for revamping tired presentations or advice for delivering to larger audiences.
Confident Communication
Designed for individuals or teams wishing to enhance their interpersonal skills. Staff will be encouraged to examine barriers to successful communication and how to improve personal impact and confidence.
Responding to Change
Designed to provide you with the tools you need to keep your feet on solid ground when experiencing change. Focusing on the process of change, how it impacts on us and how we can positively move forward.
Enhancing the Student Experience by Delivering Excellent Customer Service
This two staged workshop focuses on student experience investigating the needs of both Academic and Professional Service Staff, individually and collectively to discuss what improvements can be made to improve the correlation between the two groups to achieve and increase in the service students receive.

Health and Safety Briefing for Heads of Departments
A briefing session for Heads of Departments and departmental Health and Safety Coordinators to assist them in exercising their responsibilities surround health, safety and well being.
Developing Personal Resilience
Designed to help you develop your personal resilience by managing strong negative feelings, tendencies that undermine confidence and to provide you with the skills to boost your own resilience with improved people management skills as a result.
Fire Legislation and You: Roles and Responsibilities of Heads of Department/Managers
A mini workshop to provide an overview of current fire safety legislation and how it relates to the day to day running of faculties and departments.
