What is a Nominated User?

Nominated users are members of departmental staff responsible for requesting, checking and amending teaching room bookings.  They are nominated by the department as the primary point of contact for the Timetabling & Rooming Office (TARO).

Nominated users may have responsibility for a whole department, for a particular programme, for a selection of programmes or for a part of a programme/framework.  Whilst the need for coordination means that it is not advisable to have too many users within any particular area, it is recommended that each user has another member of staff as cover.

In some cases, nominated users may have an active role in the timetabling process; in other cases, they may simply relay requests.  Similarly, they may be either academic or administrative staff, according to local arrangements.

Staff who feel that they should have nominated user status should obtain agreement from their Head of Department before contacting the Timetabling & Rooming Office for training.

We would also ask members of staff who are about to leave the University to contact the Timetabling & Rooming Office, to allow us to update our records.
