All academic and professional service departments are expected to complete an Annual Departmental Review report and action plan.
The function of Annual Departmental Review is to enable the University, and in the case of academic departments, the Faculty, to reflect on the extent to which annual departmental objectives are being met and whether, in light of the review, those objectives should be reconsidered. This activity should be seen as a health check, rather than a full review.
Academic departments may need to consult with their Faculty Quality Officer regarding report templates and timelines.
For detailed guidance on the Annual Departmental Review process please refer to the Quality Manual (section 7). This contains guidance on the breadth of the review and skeleton templates for both academic and professional service department review reports.
Please note there are separate arrangements for the review of collaborative programmes, for these please refer to the Quality Manual (section 10).
