PRINCIPAL LECTURER PROMOTIONS
During 2010
the University substantially reviewed and revised the procedure
and criteria for internal promotions for Readers and Principal
Lecturers to the PL1 and PL2 pay scales.
The revisions were approved by Academic Board in December 2010 in line with the recommendations made by SMT following the 2009 Staff Survey.
The
revised process recognises the need for greater transparency and
clarity of requirements, reflected in the move to a 2 stage
process, involvement of Human Resources & Organisational
Development in management and co-ordination of applications and
strengthened criteria linked to the role profiles developed as
part of the National Pay Framework.
The
revisions also recognise the different contributions and
achievements made by those staff wishing to focus on Research
and Knowledge Exchange or Learning and Teaching by providing
alternative routes for promotion to either Reader (Research
and Knowledge Exchange) or Principal Lecturer (Learning
and Teaching).
The
timetable for 2011/12 applications is set out below. Meanwhile
potential applicants can download and read the regulations and
guidance in full before submitting applications.
