Facilities Services

Since 2009, the Facilities Management department have been responsible for delivering facilities services to a wide range of capital schemes where the overall expenditure was in excess of £55m.

This included the commissioning, operation and induction for Augustine House, opened in September 2009 (£36m), the refurbishment of the vacated space at North Holmes Road Campus (£4m), following the relocation of the existing Library to Augustine House, and a complex series space reconfiguration, staff moves and change management.

Also 2009, the Facilities Services Team developed the £1.9m scheme to provide additional facilities at the Medway campus, the development of an administrative head quarters at Rochester House (formerly Rutland House) (£2m) including a new Data Centre (£0.75m). Planning was also put in place for a the development of St Gregory’s Music Centre in 2011.

During 2010, the department was responsible for the upgrading of existing student accommodation facilities (850k) on the main campus. Plans were put in place for the development of new student union facility and over 200 units of student accommodation in St Georges Centre, Canterbury. This development has now commenced and is scheduled for completion during the summer of 2012.

Facilities Services will be planning the next stages of estate development following the outcome of the strategic campus network review.
