Corporate Information Services

About us

The department of Corporate Information Services (CIS) was established in 2005 and is one of the five departments which make up Learning and Information Services.  Corporate Information Services was created by bringing together the Web Development Unit and Management Information Services (MIS).  The Department is based in the Tenison Building, close to the Canterbury Campus.  The Head of Corporate Information Services reports directly to the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Learning and Quality.

Working in partnership with the University's various departments and business units, Corporate Information Services (CIS) implements and maintains IT and web-based applications. This work includes developing small customised solutions, implementing large off-the-shelf packages, producing management reports and building database driven websites.

To perform these duties, CIS is divided into three relatively distinct service areas:-

The Department employs a total of 15 staff with diverse technical skills including analysts, programmers, web designers, web developers, database administrators and support specialists. Some staff members are primarily involved in ongoing maintenance of existing systems while others are deployed on projects.

Targeting resources appropriately to satisfy the broad business needs of the University is the remit of the Executive Projects Group, which is tasked by the University's Senior Management Team to resolve conflicting priorities.

Our aim is to fulfil an active consultative and supportive role working closely with users to provide the best solutions for their business needs.
