The Computing Services Purchasing and Administrative Team provides a comprehensive administrative service for the Computing Services Department.

The team provide support to the Director of Computing Services and Computing Services Managers, their responsibilities are as follows:

  • To manage the purchase of all IT and IT-related equipment across the University.
  • To manage expenditure and income on all Computing Services Budgets.
  • To assist in the planning of the Computing Services Budget.
  • To provide contract management of all hardware maintenance contracts.
  • To provide contract management of all software and software licences.
  • To work with the development and future maintenance of an asset management system.
  • To assist the Management Team in areas such as:
        - To oversee the audit processes
        - To complete regular surveys i.e. UCISA
        - To respond to all requests under FOI and Data Protection 
  • Servicing Computing Services Management Team meetings (taking minutes, assisting in the preparation of papers etc.).
  • To assist the University's sustainability officer to work towards a sustainable IT provision.
  • To oversee the 'goods in' process.
  • To oversee the IT equipment disposal process.
  • Maintaining the diary for the Director of Computing Services
  • Arranging meetings (room bookings, hospitality, parking etc.)
  • Servicing the various inter-departmental and external meetings (e.g. Weekly Operational Meeting, Information Services Committee taking minutes, assisting in the preparation of papers etc.)
  • Departmental Health and Safety co-ordination.
  • Recording etc. of Staff Holiday and Sickness.
  • Departmental staff inductions
  • IT Training for staff: Registration, booking, planning and all other aspects.
  • To support the recruitment process.
  • Manage HR issues including the induction process.
  • Provide project support
  • Provide printing support
  • Support insurance claim processes
  • Support account creation
  • Arrange department recharges for services
  • Provision of building administration
  • Maintain Computing Services Risk Register
  • Provision of Computing Services Disaster Recovery process
