ResNET is the University Residential Network supplying Internet connectivity to halls of residence around the City.

What you can access with ResNET:
The ResNET service is provided to assist residential students with their studies and will enable access to the following services:
- University web resources (such as Blackboard, ECDL)
- University webmail email
- Your computing account home storage area (N: Drive)
- Internet Access
The service is inclusive to accommodation rental and is available to all student residents
of the above halls - NB: for Lanfranc the service is only
available from September to June each academic year and is not
available to new connections over the summer vacation period
You can apply for connection once you know your computing
account username and room number. Application must be made via a
web form (links given below).
How to Connect to ResNET:
To qualify for the service you will need the following:
- A PC or laptop running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
- A Mac running v10.5 (Leopard) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
- An up-to-date Anti Virus Package
- A system firewall enabled
- The latest system and browser security updates
- A standard and enabled network interface card (10/100 Ethernet adapter)
- A CAT 5 Ethernet cable (included in your welcome pack or from the i-zone)
- To agree to the ResNET service Terms and Conditions
Connection Process:
- Locate the new Ethernet Cable in your welcome pack and
connect it between your device and the network socket in
your room.
- Once a network Connection has been established, open
your web browser
- Follow the on screen instructions to register your device for use with ResNET.
Should you experience any problems accessing the registration
page, please consult the
getting started
guide and configuration settings as appropriate for your
specific device and web browser.
You must register from the computer you intend to use in your Halls of Residence and connected to the network port in your room. You will not be able to register from any computer attached to the on-site/campus network.
