Computing Services

Computing Services manage account access for temporary visitors and conferences.

Computing accounts for permanent fixed term and Associate University staff are created and managed automatically by Human Resources processes.

How to obtain a Computing Account for New Employees

The process for the creation of computing accounts for new staff has recently changed following the introduction of the University’s new Client Management System.  Computing accounts will now be created automatically from the data held in the HR&OD Database, Agresso.  Following the creation of a staff record in Agresso, e-mails will be sent to the new staff member’s personal e-mail address detailing the staff member’s employee number and how to use this to activate their computing account.

Once this e-mail has been received, staff can activate their account externally by following the link: www.canterbury.ac.uk/createmyaccount

Alternatively, accounts may be activated using a University networked computer by entering the username ‘Create’ and following the on screen instructions.

What does this mean?

The old Computing Account Request form should no longer be used.  Managers and new employees should ensure that the recruitment/new starter paperwork relating to new staff is received in HR at least five working days prior to the start date to ensure access to electronic services on day one of employment.  Any queries regarding the recruitment processes should be directed to the HR & OD Department at hr@canterbury.ac.uk

Any problems with the activation of computing accounts once the employee number has been received may should be reported to the IT Service point either on extension 2626 or via e-mail to it-service@canterbury.ac.uk

For Other accounts: for visitors and all other types of access requests.
