
The team is responsible for everything that is in front of a user – PCs, Macs, laptops, printers, audio-visual systems, etc. The PC desktop, Macintosh and laptop strategies and associated Technology Development for the University are all the responsibility of this team. The team is responsible for approximately 1400 student PCs, 1300 staff PCs, 800 laptops and 180 Macs at all the University Campuses and remote sites.
The staff in this team are front-facing technical user support roles, combined with Hardware and software development. The team works across all Faculties, Departments and Campuses. Following a Technology support call being logged with the i-zone they provide a 'rapid response’ service to allow swift action to be taken on critical faults (for example those affecting teaching).
David Carr is the Manager of the team as a whole and has many years management experience in the delivery of technical design, audio-visual and IT support solutions. Reporting to David is Paul Adams; who has many years of experience in the delivery of IT Support and he manages the UT Support team ensuring support requests are answered as soon as possible, any issues are escalated and that service level targets are met. Geoff Kimmons has been with CCCU for many years in Technical IT roles and, as UT Development manager, takes responsibility for Development, Software Images and technical issues.
Within the team are 3 senior Support officers and 16 Support and Assistant Officers dealing with both support and development; allowing everyone a good understanding of how the systems they support work, as well as allowing staff to maintain up-to-date skills.
Each of the three remote campuses have a single dedicated lead support officer.
