Student Parking - Canterbury
Canterbury City Council operates a Park & Ride Card Scheme at the Wincheap, Sturry Road and New Dover Road Park & Ride car parks. The Park & Ride schemes cost £2.00 per day which includes return coach travel into Canterbury for the driver and up to six passengers of the same vehicle.
Cards give £60.00 worth of parking but the cost of a card is discounted by the City Council to £48.00. A further discount is given by the University to students who live outside a 20 mile radius from the University which allows the card to be purchased for £38.00.
To obtain a Park & Ride card, please complete the appropriate form (available from the Campus Service Office or reception) and submit to Campus Services direct (Bs 24) or reception where your eligibility for a discount card will be assessed and returned via the student pigeon holes.
Information regarding the use of the Park & Ride card will be supplied with the application form.
Car Parking
Regrettably, car parking facilities are extremely limited on the University sites; consequently they are not available for students other than in exceptional circumstances, such as physical disability.
Parking spaces have been allocated specifically for the use of disabled drivers: one by the International building, two beside the Somerville and Invicta Buildings, one outside the Old Sessions House Building, two in the Green (Library) car park, one in the White car park and three in the Blue car park.
Resident students at Pin Hill should confirm parking arrangements with the Resident Manager. Resident students on the North Holmes Road campus, in University owned and Head leased houses may apply for residential parking permits issued by the City Council and entitling them to use limited on-street parking bays near the University. There is no student parking at Lanfranc Halls.
Non resident students can apply to Campus Services to purchase a Park & Ride card which allows parking in the
City Council Park & Ride car parks at a discount price.
Wheel clamping is used to enforce the University car parking regulations. Vehicles not displaying a valid permit,
or not parked in accordance with the University regulations are liable to be clamped.
The release fee of £25 will be payable at the Porters Lodge.
Cycle Racks
Bicycle racks are situated in the Red Car Park behind the International House, by the library at the end of Newton Building, outside the Student Building and to the rear of the Old Sessions House. All bicycles are to be parked in the racks provided and must not be chained to trees or lampposts. Offending bicycles are liable to be impounded and a fee charged for their release.
There is a designated area for parking motorcycles in the Green Car Park by the Newton Building.
