If you are already studying, living, or working in the UK and would like to study at Canterbury Christ Church University, we can guide you through the steps.

Read on to find out what you need to stay in the UK.

What you need to know

There are several conditions you need to meet, information you will need to gather, and documents you will need to have in order to make a successful application to study with us from within the UK.

We recommend that you use the resources available from the UK Home Office as a guide; these will include all the latest policies and the most up-to-date information.

If you are an existing student with us and need any support, please contact the Compliance Team on: ukvi.compliance@canterbury.ac.uk

Visit us

We always welcome you to visit our campuses at Canterbury and Medway. There are several options to enable you to do this.

  1. Student-led tours allow you to look around our locations and facilities with the guidance of a current student.
  2. Self-guided tours give you the freedom to look around when it is convenient for you.
  3. Open Days - These give you the opportunity to meet academic staff, view areas of the university like accommodation, and learn more about specific courses and student life.

What are the best things about being an international student in the UK?

  1. You will be part of a vibrant international student community, connecting with students from all over the world.
  2. You can join student-led sports teams and societies to practise existing skills and learn new ones. From eSports to Spanish, Harry Potter to K-Pop, there is something for everyone.
  3. You can integrate into your local community through volunteering and homestay.
  4. You will improve your English language skills.
  5. You will learn about UK traditions and culture.
  6. You will explore interesting and historical places.
  7. You can add international experience to your CV and enhance your employability as a UK graduate.
  8. You will learn important life skills and independence.
  9. You will live in a student-friendly city, with benefits including student discounts in shops, restaurants, and bars.
  10. You can work a part-time job alongside your studies. Read why we're 1st in the UK for graduates in employment

Tours take place on Mondays and Fridays and last about 1 hour. You are then free to explore the campus on your own or visit Canterbury city centre.

It is not possible to arrange to meet staff from academic departments or view university accommodation during these visits. To do this, you will need to attend an Open Day.

Once you have applied and been offered a place, you will be invited to an Applicant Day.

Book your place on a student-led tour.

To arrange a visit to the Medway Campus, please email the Medway Campus Events Co-ordinator

A self-guided tour allows you to visit our Canterbury Campus outside of normal campus tours and Open Days, at a time convenient to you.

If you would like to take part in a self-guided tour, please make your way to the main reception in The Old Sessions House on the Canterbury Campus and collect a pack and self-guided tour brochure.

We recommend visiting during weekday office hours (09:00 to 17:00). Outside of these hours you may be unable to access several areas of the University.
