There are several stages to complete in your UCAS application, so we’ve created this handy step-by-step guide to help you apply for your perfect course.

Our UCAS institutional codes

  • Institutional code name: CANCC
  • Institutional code: C10
  • Campus code for Canterbury Campus: None required
  • Campus code for Medway Campus: M

For individual UCAS codes, please check the course page.

1. Choose your course

Before you start your application, you’ll need to choose the course you'd like to study. If you're still deciding, check out our range of courses through our course search.

2. Register with UCAS Hub

Register your details with UCAS Hub. There are various sections to complete as part of your application. These include your personal details, your five university/course choices, your education and employment history, your personal statement and references.

Enter your course choices and UCAS codes

You'll need to enter the Canterbury Christ Church University institutional code C10 on your application. You'll also need to enter the individual course code, which can be found on your course pages.

If your course is at our Canterbury Campus, you do not need to add a campus code. If your course is based at our Medway Campus, please enter M.

Write your personal statement

This is the most important section of your application, so take your time and think about what will make you stand out from the crowd. Write about yourself, why you want to study your chosen subject, and refer to any relevant experience you have.

Be enthusiastic and focus on what you’ve learnt from experiences you’ve had, such as work experience or volunteering. With teaching or health-related subjects, it’s best to show relevant experiences as this is likely to make your application more successful.

Tell us about your career ambitions and how your course will help you achieve your goals. If you have interests, such as sports, theatre, travel, music or reading, your personal statement is the perfect place to include them.

Read our guide to writing personal statements for more helpful tips and advice.

Supply a reference

If you're applying whilst at school or college, references will not appear on UCAS Apply as your school or college will add this for you.

If you’re not currently in education, you’ll need to complete your referee’s details. You can ask your manager or someone who knows you from a professional setting to provide a reference for you. For more information about supplying a reference, visit the UCAS website.

3. Submit your application

Double check your application before you press the submit button, ensuring all the information is correct. The fee for applying through UCAS in 2024 is £27.50 for up to five choices..

Once you submit your application, UCAS processes it and sends it to your chosen universities.

4. Track your application

You can see the progress of your application in your UCAS account.

We work hard to respond to your application as soon as possible, so you could hear from us within a matter of days or weeks. If you submit your application by the 31 January deadline, you'll hear back from us by early May at the very latest.

5. Need more choices?

If you applied for five courses and haven't received any offers, or decide you don't want any of these offers and decline them you can enter UCAS Extra at no cost.

If you didn't use your five choices you can add another in your UCAS Hub. You can do this until 30 June and will cost £4.50.

In UCAS Extra you're offered two new choices. You can add these in the same way you did in your original application. You will not need to redo any other part of the application. If you don't hear back from your additional choices within 21 days you can continue to wait or add a new choice.

If you don't get the choice you wanted in UCAS Extra, you can still consider entering clearing when it opens on 5 July.

Applying for a part-time course

If you'd like to apply for one of our undergraduate part-time courses, in most cases you'll apply directly to us via our online application system.

Are you an international applicant?

Except for those whose school or college is registered with UCAS, individuals from the EU (excluding the UK), and worldwide, apply online independently.

Advice is available from British Council and other centres overseas, such as your school or college. It's your responsibility to make sure you pay the correct application fee, obtain and attach the academic reference and submit the completed application online to UCAS.
