Year 1 follows a common programme of modules to provide a general understanding of the nature of business and marketing so students can appreciate the interconnected role marketing plays in all organisations. Students will also begin developing employability and professional marketing skills and explore career opportunities to make considered choices for options in the following years. In Year 2 students take core courses to explore and research why consumers behave as they do and how they make decisions. This leads to how marketing ideas and plans are generated and implemented in an organisation. Options currently include E-business, Entrepreneurship, Integrated Marketing Communications, Research Methods, Retail Marketing, Copywriting, Digital and Social Media Marketing.
The final year adopts a strategic and international perspective, whilst allowing students to tailor their interests to a particular career. Option modules build on the previous year’s study and include Marketing Culture and Communications, Public Relations Strategy, Retail Strategy, Service Management, Applied Digital Marketing or Individual Study to research a particular marketing related issue.
Students also have the option to undertake a paid placement in Year 3, returning for the final year. The University offers support in CV writing, creating a digital personal brand, interview training and finding work placements.
