Facilities and Services

Facilities and services covers a broad area, from computing and catering to timetabling and the buildings themselves.

To make sure any new developments fit the needs of the University, we engage with students so we know that everything feeds into improving the overall experience of studying with Canterbury Christ Church University.

Our aim is to give you timetable information that is relevant to you.

  • Individual Student Timetables (ISTs) have now been introduced for most students. You will have details of where and when all your lectures, seminars and other programme-related activities for the term ahead are happening.  Any last-minute changes or cancellations to timetabled sessions, which the Timetabling and Rooming Office are made aware of, will be highlighted in yellow to help make them more noticeable.

We want to make sure that you have the best experience at our campuses with the latest facilities

  • A £4.6 million Student Hub will be opening in 2017 at the Medway Campus. Once the site of a swimming pool and skittles alley, the listed building is being transformed by the Universities of Kent and Greenwich, into a new, vibrant entertainment and social space for all students from Kent, Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church Universities.
  • A new SU Social space at Broadstairs campus moving Touchdown into Dwell.
  • The Sports Centre had a major £2m refurbishment this year installing a new Pulse Move system, upgraded gym facilities, spin studio and a new dance studio as well as a new sports hall at Polo Farm.

Ongoing investment, combined with your feedback in the University surveys, helps us to keep computing facilities up-to-date.

  • Staying connected is easier with greater WiFi coverage across the campuses, including in many outdoor spaces.
  • Microsoft Office 2016 is now available on all University PCs.
  • Improved mobile coverage for 02, Tesco Mobile, Giffgaff and Lycra Mobile networks in Augustine House.
  • More PCs have been installed in areas such as the Food Court.
  • To help you save time, make your work easier to do and increase your overall through productivity, a selection of free tools, apps and assistive software is available. Read&Write Gold, is installed on all student University devices, and JAWS and Dolphin supernova, are installed on two PCs in a dedicated room on the ground floor of Augustine House.

Keeping your energy levels up can really help your concentration, so we strive to develop and improve catering to offer what you want, when you want.

  • Flexible payment is now on offer across all campuses with the Way2Pay App: a new cashless system to pay for your food and drink. You can load funds onto your smartcard account using your debit/credit card from any Smart Phone, Tablet or PC.
  • We have made it easier for you to pay by introducing contactless card machines and dropping the minimum charge for debit and credit card.
  • There is more choice in the Food Court, North Holmes Road Campus from Urban Street, Heat’n’Spice and Subzone selections.
  • A new outlet Vend and Go has been created on North Holmes Campus making snacks, drinks and a microwave available to students 24/7
  • At Augustine House we have installed a new Barista Coffee Bar as well as a new hot counter with more food choice and extended opening hours.

Getting to and from lectures on time isn’t always easy. With your feedback, we are able to offer travel options and discounts in partnership with local companies and schemes to make life that bit easier.

  • The University’s shuttle bus service at Polo Farm will be running more buses for students and staff from September 2016.  Simply park your car at Polo Farm, hop on the bus and you’ll be at The Old Sessions House within minutes. See the latest Polo Farm shuttle bus timetable
