Careers advice for disabled students

The University’s Career Development team and Student, Support, Health and Wellbeing team work together to ensure there is support, advice and opportunities for disabled students in relation to employability, careers and jobs.

Information

Diversity and Employment on The CORE – The CORE information system has a dedicated section on Diversity and Employment, with useful information relating to employment on a range of protected characteristics including Age, Gender and Disability, to name a few.

The Disability section has advice on:

  • Disclosing your disability and at what stage to do so
  • The ‘Two Ticks’ policy used by many UK companies
  • The ‘Disability Confident’ Campaign
  • Access to Work
  • And much more.

Support

We have a dedicated Career Development Adviser trained in Disability and Employment, who offers workshops, confidential guidance appointments and drop-in services across the campus network. These are available for all students to book, via The CORE Events and Appointments tab on the homepage. Alternatively you can contact via email at charlotte.revell@canterbury.ac.uk

Opportunities

As with all students, the Unitemps Recruitment service and the Volunteering Service offer work experience opportunities. Please get in touch with them to boost your CV and your future.
