Biography
Dr Mark Uphill, BSc (Chichester), PGCE (Staffs), MSc (Exeter), PhD (Staffs), joined Canterbury Christ Church University in 2003, and is Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology. He completed his PhD from Staffordshire University on the Antecedents, Consequences and Regulation of Emotions in Sport in 2005.
Research & Scholarly Interests
Mark's current research is directed towards the investigation of emotions in sport. Understanding both the intra- and inter-personal antecedents and consequences of emotions in sport reflects past and continuing research. From an applied perspective, Mark is a BASES accredited sport psychologist (scientific support) and is particularly interested in examining the efficacy of psychological interventions to assist athletes in emotional control and enhance sport performance. In his capacity as an applied practitioner Mark works with a range of individual athletes and teams to enhance performance in, and enjoyment of, their sport.
