Courses which have a chemistry component, such as Core Science, Organic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry or Pollution Science

Research Interests

Coordination chemistry. Design and synthesis of new macrocyclic and acyclic ligands and study of their interaction with metal ions, with potential environmental and medical applications (see Research Publications - Chemistry|||).

Currently collaborating with Dr Carlos Lodeiro and Dr Jose L. Capelo| (Universidade de Vigo, Spain). in the synthesis and study of new fluorescence chemosensors|| |for Ca, lanthanide, and bio-transition metal ions (Zn, Cd, Co and Cu).

Educational research interests include the development of e-learning resources| for chemistry and environmental science to encourage independent learning, and enhancing the teaching-research nexus in the undergraduate curriculum (see Research Publications - Education|).
