The Ecology Research Group (ERG) comprises academic staff, postgraduate students, associate researchers and visiting researchers who operate from the Laud Laboratories at the North Holmes Road campus.
The group conducts high quality scientific research, knowledge transfer and consultancy, funded and supported by a range of commercial, public, private and charitable organisations. Outputs range from publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, textbooks and PhD theses to private reports and media broadcasts.
The main areas of interest of the ERG are environmental monitoring and managment, applied and predator ecology |and molluscan biology. The group has a specialist laboratory unit with facilities for chemical, biochemical, microbiological and macrobiological analysis. In particular, analytical resources are directed towards water and soil analysis. Both small and large scale analysis can be done according to contract.
